Welcome to Tano Bora
Tano Bora is a place to feel held by the world. Inspired by the legendary coalition of five cheetahs, our philosophy blends quiet luxury, cultural depth, and a deep respect for nature. Whether you come to rest, write, explore, or simply breathe, our spaces are designed to soften the body and free the mind.
Your Sanctuary in the Savannah
Nine rooms. Endless calm. Each one crafted with intention.
Each suite and room is a quiet celebration of detail: high-thread-count cotton sheets, a curated pillow menu, Kenyan bathrobes, and rainwater showers that leave your skin softer than silk. No televisions—just the rhythm of nature and the luxury of stillness.
Dining Fresh From Our Lands
Simple. Nourishing. Alive with Tradition. Rooted in Goodness.
At Tano Bora, food is more than a meal — it is a celebration of the land, the seasons, and the knowledge carried through generations. Our daily menu is crafted from fresh, wholesome ingredients grown in the Mara and neighbouring regions, chosen for their natural richness in minerals, vitamins, and vitality.
We honour both traditional Maasai dishes and the best of plant‑based cuisine, bringing together ingenious, flavourful foods that are comforting, energising, and deeply nourishing.
Fermented elements — from cultured grains to tangy vegetables and probiotic drinks — add depth, brightness, and gut‑supportive goodness. Our fresh-pressed juices are vibrant and mineral‑dense, designed to replenish after long game drives or simply to start the day with clarity and strength.
At our beautiful café bar, guests can enjoy a calming range of herbal teas, vibrant matcha, and carefully brewed coffees — perfect for slow mornings, reflective afternoons, or peaceful evenings under the Mara sky.
Guests may also prepare meals in their own kitchenettes, or invite our chef to create something warm, grounding, and tailored to their needs.

The Story Behind
the Sanctuary
Tano Bora was created by Patrick Letura, a respected Maasai Chief dedicated to community prosperity, and Jacquie McGlade, former UNEP Chief Scientist with a lifelong passion for nature and health. Their shared vision led to the creation of Tano Bora Hotel and Ewangan, a modern Maasai manyatta where guests can experience living culture with dignity and depth
